Reel Breakdown
1. Steampunk city - Environment Modeling
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, rendered in Arnold, and composited in Nuke. This project was the second project for my set dressing class. I created an environment with a steampunk concept and aimed to showcase the overall appearance of the town. The production period for this work was three weeks. Additionally, I developed a separate project using Unreal Engine to enable character interaction within this map. For reference, I referred to @hajoschusons.creative.mind.
2. "Splendid" - TSQ 3D Billboard - LG 2023 Wonderbox contest
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, rendered in Arnold, and composited in Nuke.
This project was a team artwork that won 2nd place in the LG Wonderbox 2023 showcase for U.S. university students. It was a team project carried out with one other teammate, where I actively participated in every stage of the process, from ideation to rendering. The production period for this work was 2 months. Since the project was required to be displayed on a 3D billboard, we used Nuke to convert the 3D elements into a 2D format suitable for screening. This contest was judged by industry experts and featured prominently in New York’s Times Square! The award ceremony was also filmed on The Drew Barrymore Show. This artwork was showcased on LG's 3D billboard in Times Square for an entire year.
3. Fairy Tail Village - Enviroment Modeling
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered in Arnold. This was the first project for my set dressing class. Instead of a realistic style, I focused on a stylized approach. The colors and atmosphere of the town were inspired by Blizzard's Dorado map, and I also referred to the account @hajoschusons.creative.mind for additional references. The production period for this work was three weeks.
4. Izakaya Train - Environment Prop
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered in Arnold. I designed a vehicle combining the concepts of a steampunk-style train and an izakaya restaurant. I also created the posters and billboards featured in the scene. The overall atmosphere was inspired by the calm and serene mood of Japan. For reference, I referred to the works of Jia Hua on ArtStation. The production period for this work was three weeks.
5. m4a1 - Complex Realistic Modeling
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered in Arnold. This project involved more complex and detailed modeling. It was created with graphics based on realism. The production period for this work was two weeks. Compared to previous models, this one included a higher polygon count.
6. Sci-fi Car - Vehicle Modeling
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered in Arnold. I modeled and textured a sci-fi-style futuristic vehicle. The production period was one month. The focus of the work was on the flow of edges and the connectivity between components.
7. "The Old Vending Machine" - MetroCAF NYC ACM SIGGRAPH - Short Film
Created in Maya, textured in Substance 3D Painter, and rendered in Arnold. This was the first project I created after learning the entire animation process in my first year. I completed all the work independently. The atmosphere of the city was designed to feel warm, while the interior of the machines emphasized a colder, mechanical vibe. Additionally, I used After Effects to create the CCTV scenes.
